Bannershop™ GIF Animator v3.0 released.

Design and compress GIF animations for the Web with less time.

Main purpose of using Bannershop GIF Animator is designing and creating GIF animations. These animations - after being saved in GIF format - can be used to include as animated graphics on the web page. GIF graphics format is one of the most popular formats used to display animated graphics on the www pages.

GIF animation is a set of two or more images saved in one GIF file. These images displayed one by one in consecutive order give effect of animation. Each image (or another words animation frame) has specified so called duration time. Duration time tells the web browser how long each frame should be displayed on the screen. Time information is saved together with image data in the GIF file. Bannershop GIF Animator allows to easily edit GIF animation frames and specify its properties. During design time the artwork can be quickly previewed using build-in GIF animation browser. After final design the artwork can be saved in GIF format and can be used on the web page.

The quickest way to build new animation in Bannershop GIF Animator is to compile it from pre-created images using Quick Animation command from the File menu. After choosing this command user will be prompted to select image files to include in the animation. Animation images can be either GIF or JPEG images. After specifying animation images a new document will be created and each image will become respective animation frame.

New created document can be now saved as GIF animation using Save Animation command from the File menu.

Bannershop GIF Animator has extended GIF size optimization capabilities matching internet's rigorous requirements. GIF file size optimization is obtained by:

  • reducing number of colors
  • removing repeated graphics on consecutive frames
  • using advanced optimization methods like using transparency colors and optimizing color palette entries
GIF optimization options are controlled by dialog window displayed each time the GIF file is saved. By default file size optimization is switched on to achieve best compression ratio. However file size optimization can be switched off to export all animation frames in full size bitmaps. This method might be useful to transfer the animation between different graphics applications.

Bannershop GIF Animator has also design and drawing capabilities. Each animation frame can be assembled from several images. These images can be manipulated using several tools. For example the basic operations can be resizing or moving images on the animation frame.

There are two types of images - bitmap images and vector images. Bitmap images are usually GIF or JPEG images imported from files. Vector images are texts, rectangles or ellipses drawn within Bannershop GIF Animator using respective drawing tools. The text in text images can be easily re-edited or the font face can be changed just by double-clicking the text image.

The design area is bigger than the actual exportable area. The exportable area indicates actual size of the animation. All images that extend this area will be cropped in saved GIF file. Design area is greater than exportable area to make the animation assembly easier. Thus images bigger than the actual animation can be easily processed.
