How to Do Portrait Photography

If you need to take a sharp portrait photo but don't have a lot of time, remember to make sure that face is well-lit from both sides.

portrait Put the subject in front of a solid-color background, like a wall. Have an assistant use a mirror to reflect light from the window onto the dark side of the subject's face. You can also place the mirror on a chair. Daylight from the window should illuminate the subject from the side.
Fully light the shadowy part of the face using a second light source - a mirror works well. The primary light source (e.g. a window) should illuminate the subject from the side.

Portrait Photograph Setup

Put the subject in front of a solid-color background that doesn't clash.
